An MOT Test (Ministry of Transport) is designed to ensure that all cars, motorcycles and light goods vehicles within the UK which are more than 3 years old are road worthy and are examined by an authorised MOT Test Garage and tested yearly from then on.
An MOT Test primarily ensures that all vehicles meet road safety and environmental standards.
The MOT Test Certificate confirms that at the time of the MOT Test, without dismantling it, the vehicle met the minimum acceptable environmental and road safety standards that are required by law; however this does not mean that the vehicle is roadworthy for the length of time that the certificate is valid. The test related only to the condition of the testable items at the time of the test.
The MOT Certificate is also no guarantee of the general mechanical condition of your vehicle. The MOT Test does not cover the condition of the engine, gearbox or clutch.
